This is how to do the Side Stroke in the pool.
Arm Movements.
- Your leading arm is extended forward with the palm facing downwards.
- Your trailing arm rests on your side.
- You sweep your leading arm backward with a half circle movement.
- You move your other arm forward until the two arms meet.
- You move your bottom arm back to its extended position with the palm facing down.
- You sweep your other arm backwards until it is in its original position.
- After that you glide for a bit before repeating the cycle.
Leg Movements.
- Extend your legs and point your toes.
- Move your top leg forward until your hip and knee joints are just less than 45°
- Your bottom leg moves in the opposite direction, it bends a bit backward at the hip, but a lot at the knee.
- You extend your bottom leg and kick your top leg back to its original position.
- You then repeat the cycle.
